Biography

holding the sheep

Originally from the cinnamon‑scented concrete of New York City, I now live in the verdant village of East Chatham, NY, with my husband, my dog Fanny Brawne, 40,000 bees (give or take a few), the grass beneath my feet, and the stars above my head.

I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans film, television, theater, literature, and botanical art. Highlights include:

  • Selling my screenplay Horton Bliss to Sony, with Mark Gordon and Katalyst producing, and Ashton Kutcher attached to star

  • Writing the feature Away, commissioned by Open City Films

  • Television writing on Showtime’s Street Time

  • Theater work developed internationally, including workshops at LAByrinth Theatre Company and RADA in London

  • Musical fantasy The Dustman, developed with the Mandragora Group in Krakow, Poland

Current projects include the screenplay The Extraordinary Life of Mr. Tom Bottoms, the children’s book The Curious Tales of Thymble Tarn, and the picture book Effie, about an orphaned witch discovering her magical self.

Botanical Art Practice

I have been a botanical artist for over ten years, graduating with honors from the New York Botanical Garden’s Botanical Art Certificate Program in 2019. I am a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), the Tri‑State Botanical Artists (TSBA), and the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA).

My work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions and two solo shows at the Berkshire Botanical Garden, including Alchemy and Innocents (2023). The DayDream exhibition in the Leonhardt Galleries also includes a beautifully published catalogue in which participating artists shared personal insights and stories.

My art has also been featured in Fine Art Connoisseur magazine — a recognition that places my work in the context of contemporary art and botanical illustration in national visual arts media.

I lead workshops inspired by my practice, including The Language of the Flowers, which grew out of curriculum I developed at the Berkshire Botanical Garden. These workshops focus on color, observation, and storytelling, guiding artists of all levels to develop confidence, technique, and a personal visual voice.

Through the kindness and support of others, I wish to thank the Berkshire Botanical Garden, the Leonhardt Galleries, Corning Glass Studios, Urban Glass, and the Martha Boschen Porter Fund for supporting my curious search — a pursuit I call my work, where observation, myth, and imagination meet in the living language of flora and fauna.

The poppy society

Biography

I view flora and fauna as collaborators. Each specimen — whether plant or creature — tells a brief but epic story, and my goal is to translate its essence into color, form, and imagination. Whether through watercolor, pencil, or glass, I aim to invite viewers into a world where observation meets wonder, and science meets myth.
